Notes from seller:

The rover has only had 3 owners before me, it was sold new and spent most of its life on a ranch in Nevada. I have the bill of lading tag from the ship it came over on and a note from the original owner's daughter with a photo from the time. Apparently it was primarily used for hunting on the ranch. After the original owner's passing it was sold to an Austin Healy collector in Missouri. This was in the early 90s. There are many receipts from his ownership as he refurbished the truck with mostly parts from Rovers North. From what I understand this was a period of high quality series parts and the work was done with care to maintain the originality of the vehicle.

It still has the original solex carb, rivets and all the floorboard bolts are correct, unpainted galvanizing, original bulkhead (appears to have never needed repairs). The interior has a good original headliner, but no door panels. Seats are replacements in black vinyl. It's also fitted with some interesting aeronautical gauges, including an altimeter and some sort of night vision lamp. They were installed professionally but could be removed if desired. The kodiak style heater works well. There are two period Lucas lights on the front, one is a spot pattern and the other is a flood beam.  Headlights, signals and dash lights are working well. It also has a tailgate for top off use and there are considerable spare parts that can go with it. Interesting additional feature is a little bell on the front leaf spring shackle, sometimes these are seen on Harley Davidson motorcycles as a "gremlin bell" to ward off potential mechanical issues.

Next owner was in the Bay area and I purchased it from him when work dictated a move to New York City for him. It's been here in sunny Scottsdale since.

I had my mechanic go through it when it arrived from the shipping company. We did the master and slave cylinders, some wiring to fix a bad ground and get the lights working, checked the brake pads and did a brake adjustment and oil changes. It does leak a little oil as most of these do, when it needs a new clutch, the main seal could use replacing. I've had several old rovers and this is the best driving and most original I've owned. The steering is light and tracks well, good power and brakes are strong. The tires are good dunlaps from a few years ago but with not many miles on them. Battery is newer too. There's only surface rust on the frame and axles. Much of the frame is still showing original paint.

I have a new exhaust manifold for it as my mechanic noticed a small exhaust leak, this is something that would want to be done if it was getting driven often. I also have a new speedo cable for it, I haven't installed it since I'm not too concerned about breaking the speed limit with this car.

Overall, the originality and history of continuous care and maintenance make this truck really stand out. It's worthy of being in a collection but can also be put to work.
